Too many times I hear people say 'I can't exercise I'm too old,' or 'I've had children I can't run,' or 'I can't run a half marathon,' but I say 'why can't you?' It is all a matter of perception.
Working with my own personal trainer after my second child really challenged my perceptions of what fitness goals I could achieve despite being a mum.
I realised that it is never too late, that yes I can still run and have gone on to race 10k and half marathon!!
This inspired me to take my life long passion for health and fitness on a step further and become a personal trainer and set up my own training business.
The unique combination of my fitness training and skills as a clinical psychologist, with 8 years experience in the NHS, I am well experienced in motivating people to work towards and achieve their goals.

Fitness Perceptions offers:
ONE TO ONE COACHING
Meeting with people on an individual basis to help them achieve their goals through an individually tailored programme. These goals might be:
1) Weight/fat loss
2) Getting into shape after children or for a
special occasion
3) Regaining exercise and fitness confidence and
esteem
4) Increase fitness levels and overall health
5) Train for a speicific event e.g. 5k, 10k, half
marathon
6) Advice on exercise and nutrition
SMALL GROUP COACHING (2-4 people)
Fitness Perceptions also meets with small groups of friends that might prefer to workout together.
These normally take a circuit class format but could be used to suit whatever the groups needs and wishes are. This type of work is best when individuals are of a similar ability.
Specialising in programmes for mums (new and old)
Having two children myself, I know only too well what impact this has on our body, mind and fitness levels and how hard it can be to find the time, energy or focus to dedicate to ourselves. I see exercise as a way of dealing with the stresses of bringing up children and as a way of having some time away to dedicate to yourself and help give you the much needed energy to keep up with the kids!
Whether you have fairly recently had a baby or your children are rapidly growing up and you still haven't dealt with those weight and fitness goals, I can help you finally address your needs.
Please note: Fitness Perceptions is happy for young babies to attend with Mum and watch from the comfort of a car seat/pushchair if this makes getting to sessions to exercise easier for you. A baby chair and some toys are available to keep little one amused.
